CBOT soybeans ease from 3-month highs after stocks report

Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures eased after mixed trading on Friday, traders said.

  • CBOT January soybeans (SF3) slipped 2-1/2 cents to $14.83-3/4 a bushel.

  • For the week, the CBOT's most-active soybean contract ZS1! climbed 3.15%.

  • January soyoil (BOF3) lost 1.30 cents to settle at 60.01 cents per pound. CBOT March soymeal (SMH3) climbed 6.20 to settle at $468.60 per short ton.

  • All soymeal futures contracts set new life-of-contract highs, for the fourth consecutive session.

  • U.S. soybean stocks will likely total 220,000 bushels at the end of the 2022/23 marketing year, the U.S. Agriculture Department said in its monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, unchanged from last month and slightly below analyst expectations of 238,000 bushels.

  • U.S. farmers enrolled 86.586 million acres of soybeans in crop subsidy programs by Dec. 1, the USDA said in a separate report.

  • Argentina's drought is threatening to derail soy production in the world's top exporter of processed soy oil and meal.

  • China's securities regulator said it will permit international participation in trading of its soybean and soymeal futures contracts from Dec. 26. The contracts are traded on the Dalian Commodity Exchange.
