Turkey - Factors To Watch on July 9

Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Tuesday.

The lira USDTRY was quoted at 32.71 against the U.S. dollar at 0428 GMT, weakening from a close of 32.6805 on Monday.

The main BIST 100 share index XU100 closed 0.11% higher at 10,864.08 points on Monday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Japan's Nikkei hit a record high on Tuesday, while investors elsewhere waited anxiously to see if Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell would sound supportive of rate cuts after evidence the U.S. labour market is cooling.

NATO SUMMIT

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will depart for the United States to attend a NATO summit in Washington.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus will attend a meeting of NATO parliament chiefs in Washington.

PARLIAMENT MEETINGS

The pro-Kurdish DEM Party and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will hold parliamentary group meetings. (0945 GMT) (1030 GMT)

BYD INVESTMENT

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD Co Ltd 002594 agreed with the Turkish government to build a $1 billion production plant in Turkey with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, Turkey's industry and technology minister said on Monday.

BOND AUCTIONS

The Treasury will tap a 4-year fixed coupon bond maturing on Nov. 8, 2028 and a 4-year TLREF indexed bond maturing on May 17, 2028.
