Ether is under treat, ahead of CFTC-SEC regulations.
On the May 7th the Security and Exchange Commission will meet to discuss Ethereum’s status whether it should classified as a security or not. This is probably the most important day for Ethereum and it's impact on the entire market. If Ethereum is not classified as a security, then the price will continue the uptrend towards $1,200 area, if not then a new massive downtrend is ahead.
In my personal opinion, Ethereum WILL BE considered as a security, which will also impact on the ERC-20 tokens. Ethereum was funded via an initial coin offering in 2014, raising roughly $18.3 million in BTC, and its price skyrocketed thousands of percent since then. This also explains why Coinbase is applying to become a licensed broker to be able to sell Securities.
