The beginning of the development of the wave {3}

The wave {2} took the form of an irregular traveling correction and the wave {3} began to develop. Since the extension was in the wave {1}, it is fair to assume that the wave {3} will be shorter than the first, hence the wave {5} will be shorter than the third.
