ITC Limited is a leading Indian conglomerate headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. Established on August 24, 1910, as the Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited, it has evolved into a diversified multi-business enterprise. Over the years, the company underwent name changes—becoming India Tobacco Company Limited in 1970 and I.T.C. Limited in 1974—before adopting its current name, ITC Limited, in 2001, where "ITC" is no longer an acronym.

ITC operates across several key business segments:
- **Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG):** This includes its dominant cigarette business (e.g., brands like Gold Flake, Wills Navy Cut, and Classic), as well as branded packaged foods (Aashirvaad, Sunfeast, Yippee!), personal care products (Fiama, Vivel, Savlon), stationery (Classmate, Paperkraft), safety matches, and incense sticks (Mangaldeep).
- **Hotels:** ITC manages over 120 properties under brands like ITC Hotels, Welcomhotel, Mementos, Storii, Fortune, and WelcomHeritage, known for luxury and sustainability.
- **Paperboards, Paper, and Packaging:** A leader in India, ITC produces specialty papers, packaging materials, and eco-friendly solutions.
- **Agri-Business:** One of India’s largest exporters of agricultural commodities (e.g., wheat, rice, spices, coffee, leaf tobacco), ITC empowers farmers through its acclaimed e-Choupal initiative, reaching over 4 million farmers across 10 states.
- **Information Technology:** Through its subsidiary, ITC Infotech, it provides digital solutions globally.

ITC is a major player in India’s corporate landscape, with a Gross Revenue of ₹69,446 crores and a Net Profit of ₹20,422 crores (as of March 31, 2024). It employs over 36,500 people across 60+ locations in India, with products available in 6 million retail outlets domestically and exported to 90 countries. The company is the second-largest FMCG firm in India by market capitalization and the third-largest tobacco company globally.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of ITC’s operations. It is the only company of its size worldwide to be carbon-positive, water-positive, and solid waste recycling-positive for over a decade, creating over 6 million sustainable livelihoods. Nearly 50% of its energy comes from renewable sources, and its hotels hold LEED Platinum certifications.

ITC’s ownership includes British American Tobacco as the largest shareholder (25.5% as of March 2024), followed by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (15.2%). Its equity shares are listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), National Stock Exchange (NSE), and Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE), and it is part of the BSE SENSEX and NIFTY 50 indices. Sanjiv Puri serves as the Chairman and Managing Director, a role he assumed in May 2019, also leading the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2024-25.

In January 2025, ITC completed the demerger of its hotel business into a wholly owned subsidiary, ITC Hotels, enhancing its focus on core segments while maintaining its diversified portfolio.
