May 5 - OpenSats, a nonprofit organization focused on Bitcoin and other projects, announced that it has received a $10 million donation from Jack Dorsey's philanthropic initiative that will be used to support the development of free open source software and projects focused on Bitcoin, the decentralized social protocol Nostr, and related technologies. All donated funds will be allocated to projects reviewed by OpenSats' board of directors. startsmall's donation includes funding for OpenSats' operating budget, and in addition, half of the donation amount ($5 million) will be used to advance the growing new Nostr ecosystem. openSats said it has established a committee of Nostr developers committee, including fiatjaf and NVK, who will help OpenSats evaluate the contribution of projects and protocols.
